Berlin spricht viele Sprachen – und ja, wir lieben es! Genau darum öffnen wir mit Studio international die Türen für alle Poet*innen der Hauptstadt, ganz gleich in welcher Sprache sie ans Mikrofon treten.

Wir laden Euch ein zu einer abwechslungsreichen und kurzweiligen Poetry-Show in gemütlicher Lounge Atmosphäre mit DJ und Drinks. Zeit, die Sprachkenntnisse auszupacken und die Herzkammern zu öffnen. Wie immer gilt bei uns die goldene Regel: if you don’t understand the poem – feel it.

Hosts: Arielle Cottingham, Ken Yamamoto

Die in Texas geborene afro-lateinamerikanische Dichterin, Redakteurin, Performance-Künstlerin und Pädagogin Arielle Cottingham hat in fünf Jahren vier Kontinente bereist und in Europa, Nordamerika, Australien und Asien Performances und Workshops gegeben. Ihre Arbeit erforscht die fließenden Überschneidungen von Identitäten und ist in mehreren Literaturzeitschriften sowohl in gedruckter Form als auch online erschienen. Zu ihren Auftrittsorten zählen 48H Neukölln, das Alley Theatre, das Museum of Old & New Art und das Sydney Opera House, wo sie 2016 den Titel des Australian National Poetry Slam Champion gewann.

Ken Yamamoto ist Slam Poet, Moderator und Mitglied der legendären Berliner Lesebühne »Spree vom Weizen«. Er ist waschechter Neuköllner, also zugezogen und auf ganzer Linie assimiliert. Salonfähig wie abgehangener Halloumi, mit dem überbordenden Charme eines Gebrauchtwagenhändlers, führt er kurzweilig durch diese Abende voller Sprachwitz und Tiefe.

Berlin speaks many languages – and yes, we love it! That’s why we’re opening the doors of Studio international to all poets, no matter in which language they step up to the microphone.

We invite you to a varied and entertaining poetry show in a cozy lounge atmosphere with DJ and drinks. Time to unpack your language skills and open your heart chambers. As always, the golden rule applies: if you don’t understand the poem – feel it.

Hosts: Arielle Cottingham, Ken Yamamoto

Texas-born African-Latina poet, editor, performance artist and educator Arielle Cottingham has traveled to four continents in five years, giving performances and workshops in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. Her work explores the fluid intersections of identities and has appeared in several literary journals both in print and online. Her performance venues include 48H Neukölln, the Alley Theatre, the Museum of Old & New Art, and the Sydney Opera House, where she won the title of Australian National Poetry Slam Champion in 2016.

Ken Yamamoto is a slam poet, moderator and member of the legendary Berlin reading stage »Spree vom Weizen«. He is a real Neuköllner, which means he moved here and is assimilated all along the line. As salon-worthy as seasoned halloumi, with the exuberant charm of a used car salesman, he leads entertainingly through these evenings full of linguistic wit and depth.
